Today in the Fishroom ~ 6/1/12 F0 Amphilophus hogaboomorum

I recently moved the F0 A. hogaboomorum into a larger tank.  The primary reason was that in the smaller 180 gallon tank the pair would eventually stop caring for the fry.  I think it had a lot to do with the larger "single" male that resided in the tank.  Not sure...but what I speculate.  I moved him out into another tank.  As luck would have it, a friend of mine gave me back a fish that I gave him several years ago.  It's another wild hogaboomorum...a FEMALE!  With any luck I will have two pair.  In the meantime the current pair I have are in breeding mode again.

Fantastic specimen shots of Amphilophus hogaboomorum.(non-registered)
The lateral bars and blue sheen look dialed in—usually see that with frequent water changes and a higher-protein diet. If you’re pairing them, modular rock stacks for line-of-sight breaks plus a removable divider help; they’re brutal once they claim a site. Curious what GH/KH you were running—mine color up best in hard, alkaline water around 26–27 °C.
